The immensely talented Johnny Depp has admitted that his daughter's medical crisis shows in his eyes during his astonishing performance in Sweeney Todd. Told that his face looked like a "rictus of pain" in the movie, Depp admited: "Yeah, it's horrible. I can't watch it." And he admits further that the "awful scare", with his eight-year-old daughter Lily-Rose being rushed to hospital, affected his performance.
"You can't broom out your head," he said. "You certainly can't broom out your heart. And there's a hot wire between them, and everything shows in the eyes. So whatever you're feeling in your life, trying to avoid it is some kind of weird obstacle course that there's no way to win. So when it's there, it's there."
Despite the drama and the dark nature of the movie he was making, he insists he had a wild time on set with director Tim Burton, Burton's actress wife Helena Bonham Carter, and Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen. "On the set, we laughed like absolute fools," Depp says. "It was a ball."
Depp was talking to music magazine Rolling Stone, appearing on the cover with a black shirt ripped open showing a tattoo of his daughter's name above his heart. He told the magazine that "music will always be my first love" and he always assumed his future would be in a rock band. "I never wanted to be an actor," he said. "It just seemed like a good way to make easy money. I didn't care what the movies were. If they're going to pay me, fine."

The actor, who sings in new movie musical 'Sweeney Todd' said he has never tried the bar pastime, and he admitted he would need to be seriously drunk before having a go. Asked what his favourite karaoke song is, Depp replied:
"Honestly, I've always been frightened of it. I've never tried it. It scares the hell out of me. I've never been that drunk. I've been drunk - but not that drunk."
Depp plays the Demon Barber of Fleet Street in the upcoming Tim Burton Hollywood film, but he said he was terrified when he won the part, because he hadn't sung before. Depp, 44, added:
"I was probably more frightened than anyone. I'd never sung before in my life. So I thought it was important that I keep it very low-key. Initially I did demos in my friend's garage studio because I didn't know if I'd be able to hit a note. I sent it to Tim [director Tim Burton], crossed my fingers and waited for the outcome. I really went through some angst."
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will be released in the US on December 21 and in the UK on January 25.

If you're the paparazzi, that is! Depp spoke about his reservations with the paparazzi photographing his children in
Esquire mag, saying that "There's no limit to the possibilities of what I could do to the paparazzi if I catch them photographing my children." Yikes.
Whenever I read these stories, I imagine Johnny Depp gritting his teeth at
events like this. But it's not all bad! Depp may be fiercely protective of his children, but he loves his fans after all, saying "People are super nice in the street. If they want me to sign something, that's great, I don't mind that at all."
