Kate Middleton has brought some Christmas spirit to the north east early – arriving in her Christmas Day coat.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore the burgundy overcoat by an unnamed designer for the Christmas Day church service at Sandringham last year, and it is getting another outing in the north east today.
Kate was without Prince William, who pulled out to attend the funeral of his former nanny.
About 500 people, many waving flags, cheered at Newcastle Civic Centre as she arrived to meet Olympic volunteers.
Later she met youngsters involved in a substance abuse scheme, before travelling to Teesside.
