Pop star Justin Bieber, with his ever present girlfriend in the background, came out onto a balcony at his Copacabana Palace hotel in Rio de Janeiro to show his appreciation for the hundreds of screaming fans, who have been camping outside it since his arrival in the country earlier in the week. He waved, made a heart sign, smiled and made the peace sign as the crowd below screamed and cried with emotion. He put on his first show in the city the previous night and made his balcony appearance shortly before heading out for a second performance.
