Michelle Dockery, star of the hit show Downton Abbey, opens up for the Harper’s Bazaar September issue about her character Lady Mary if she lived in the modern world. “She’d be in charge, her own boss” . Dockery went on saying that her own style is very French, even understated.
She also spoke about her memories when she was first cast as Lady Mary.
“Until then I’d played much more vulnerable parts, but I remember coming out of the audition, and Dan Stevens [who plays her character's love interest, Matthew] was in the waiting room. I said, ‘Who are you up for?’ and he said, ‘Matthew.’ I walked out and thought, Oh, that could work.”
