Sarah Tiefenthaler

EXCLUSIVE: Yoga teacher Sarah Tiefenthaler is making waves with her classes, putting students through their poses on paddleboards. The stunning blonde teaches ‘YOGAqua’ in Los Angeles, where yoga practitioners take to the water on stand up paddleboards. Sarah created YOGAqua by combining her love of yoga with a newly-discovered passion for paddle boarding. She spent several weeks out on her paddle board experimenting with yoga poses and sequences, testing them out until she developed a sequence that any level of yoga practitioner could enjoy but still find challenging. And her fully-booked 90-minute weekly classes in Marina Del Rey show how rapidly YOGAqua has taken off. Sarah said, ‘Yoga is huge in Los Angeles and a lot of people here have a strong passion for it. There are lots of studios, but because YOGAqua is something new people are automatically drawn to it. Yoga in the water is on an entirely different level. It’s on an unstable surface, so your balance, flexibility and focus are all challenged. ‘YOGAqua goes through the same poses you’d practice in any yoga class. We just go through them a bit slower and more detailed in each posture because it is on the moving water. Students find their full concentration is on their practice. If the mind wanders even for a moment, they’ll lose their balance. You leave refreshed and rejuvenated.’
