Katy Perry has taken her California Dreams tour on the road but sadly her husband Russell Brand wasn’t able to stick around after they arrived in Japan. 

Immigration officials detained the Brit funnyman after he landed at Narita international airport in Tokyo and due to some controversy with his criminal past, he was denied entry into the country. 

The reformed comedian has quite the rap sheet with an arrest for indecent exposure in 2001 and at least eleven other arrests due to his past drug use, over ten years ago.

Japanese officials haven’t revealed what offences led to Brand’s deportation but Russell took it all in stride, joking on his Twitter page he planned to escape Japanese custody by digging a tunnel with a chopstick. 

Wife Katy also let her feelings be known on Twitter, revealing that she was sad she won’t be able to show him her favorite place and even started a free Rusty thread.

But we think the joke is on Japan because denying Brand entry to the country sounds like a great way to start a sequel to Get Him to the Greek.
