2:33 Friday, May 16, 2008
Love is in the air this morning, as news hit out that lesbian chatshow host Ellen DeGeneres and her actress partner Portia de Rossi are set to get married. The happy couple made the announcement at a taping of her show in LA on Thursday night, after gay weddings were ruled legal in California.
Stunning former Ally McBeal actress Portia was at the studio and the happy couple are said to have been given a standing ovation by the delighted audience. The pair got together in 2004 after leaving their previous partners, and Ellen has said she is "thrilled" at the ruling by the California supreme court to overturn the state's ban on gay marriage.
This comes as Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon has revealed she is also ready to marry her female lover, Christine Marinoni. The actress, best known as red head Miranda, hopes New York will soon make same sex marriages legal so she too can tie the knot.
The 42-year-old mother of two ditched her boyfriend of 15 years to begin a lesbian relationship with Marinoni in 2003.
I think it is fine if they marry. Now if only all
the pregnant single women decide that it
necessary.
Good for them. I will give it less than 3 years.
Ha those famous people, always wanting to be um… famouser.
But this all very good news, check out the more “technical” FAQ on the legal situation in CA, like “dude man, what happened?”:
