Director Anthony Minghella Passes Away
6:15 Tuesday, March 18, 2008
Reports have surfaced that director Anthony Minghella has died at the age of 54. He was currently helping Scarlett Johansson with her directing debut on the set of 'New York I Love You' in Brooklyn NYC. He is most famous for the following films: Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr Ripley, The English Patient and Truly Madly Deeply. He was highly regarded by his peers and is regarded as one of the greats in British cinema, and he is widely noted for his contribution to the British Film Institute. He was also appointed as CBE in 2001, on the Queen's Birthday Honors List.
UPDATE Anthony Minghella died of a haemorrhage following surgery for a growth on his neck last week.

When I first heard about this I couldn't believe it. It's just too awful. He was so brilliant... Truly tragic he died so young. :-(
Sadly,
Tom
