Heath Ledger victim of paparazzi drugs sting

THE scandalous video of Heath Ledger talking about his drug habits was filmed as part of a controversial sting by paparazzi, who cashed in on the actor's tragic death.

The grainy video footage – in which a guilt-ridden Ledger confessed that he was a regular drug user – was allegedly recorded by a reporter and a photographer from LA-based, British-owned paparazzi agency Splash News.

Several independent sources told The Courier-Mail that the company's bosses had initially decided, on legal advice, in early 2006 against selling the footage.

The video was shot in a hotel room at LA celebrity hangout Chateau Marmont on January 29, 2006, after Ledger had appeared at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Lawyers for the agency are understood to have advised that Ledger would have a strong case to sue – and would probably win millions – on the grounds of entrapment, as the reporter and photographer had invited him into their drug-filled hotel room.

The pair allegedly offered Ledger the drugs.

The photographer went on to the balcony, where he set up a hidden video camera and began recording through the window as the reporter asked the actor leading questions about his drug habits.

The Courier-Mail understands that Ledger was initially unaware that the conversation was being filmed but later spotted the camera and became angry and distraught once he realised he had been caught out.

A potential lawsuit was no longer a concern after Ledger's death, so the agency then sold the footage to the highest bidder.

i can tell you she never loved heath leger after thier separation, if she love him she never would have challenged heath to be drug tested and be free of drug in order for him to see his own daughter . how crul she must have been to deny him of his own child , i hope the guilt would haunt her for the rest of her life, i am so sad to think that poor guy never saw his own child just because she wanted to punish him or make him not to do drug , believe me with doing that it drove him even more into it, i hate her for not letting him see his daughter before he died.

in the video at the party heath is telling a man/friend i shouldn’t have been here now she is not going to let me see metild. did it work for not letting him see his child to think it might make him stop doing drugs, of course not it even drove him more into it thinking all the time about his daughter and the fact that he can’t not see her, his live was meaningless. she is heart broken because of the guilt of what she did to him , not allowing him to see his daughter.
