Aussie actress and friend of Heath Ledger paid tribute to Heath Ledger in a statement released this afternoon saying:
"What a tragedy. My heart goes out to his family."
Kidman and Ledger became friends after the actor started dating Kidman's best friend Naomi Watts.

Heath Ledger's body has been removed from his apartment building in a black body bag and placed in a New York City Medical Examiner's truck.
The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

This is the scene outside the apartment building Heath Ledger was found in. Police are reporting that sleeping pills were strewn around his bed and that he was found face down in his bed.
This is f*cking insane. Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty are still alive but Heath Ledger isn't? What the f*ck?

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his bed in his New York City apartment by his house keeper this afternoon. It is not considered a crime scene currently and presumed to be a drug overdose. We will update as soon as more information is available.
He leaves 2-year-old daughter Matilda behind. This is incredibly sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Heath Ledger.
