Nicole & Madden: "Luckiest Two People Alive"

splashnews_rlagydc170807c_01.jpg
Rocker Joel Madden has gushed openly that fatherhood has turned him and girlfriend Nicole Richie into "the luckiest two people alive". Madden, 28, wrote on the website of his clothing company, DCMA Collective:
"I had no idea what love even was until Harlow came along, I swear it's so hard to leave during the day, but always so rewarding to come home to the little family. I've always been a guy who loves to love. Probably one of the things that define me outside of my work is LOVE."
Madden adds, about his new baby Harlow Winter Kate:
"She's already growing too fast! Me and her mother feel like the luckiest two people alive right now. This time in our life has been amazing. We both look at our little girl every single moment every day and know there is nothing we wouldn't do to protect her and her perfect little innocence. It seems like you turn on the TV, or get online, and it's all bad news. We don't want her to know any of that yet. I actually never want her to know any of the pain and suffering we see out in the world every day, or how harsh people can be as a result of it. " Having this baby has really made me realise we all start out that way, then somewhere along the way something happens and people go one way or the other. But all started out sweet and innocent just like my little daughter. The world could really make you bitter if you let it, but that's where music, and art come in to save the day."
The Good Charlotte rocker then told of his sadness over the shocking death of Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger, in New York this week. "My heart goes out to Heath Ledger's family. Too young. too soon. too loved to be gone."

Heath's Mind Raced At Night

splashnews_spl15544_001.jpg
As pictures emerge of Michelle Williams finally returning home from filming in Sweden, stories of Heath Ledger's insomnia are also surfacing. As the media try to build a picture of the actor's character before his early death, I'm sure reports such as these below, won't be the last. Retired city worker Tony Rivera, 52, told US magazine People, that he often saw the actor in Manhatten's Washington Square Park around dawn. Mr Rivera, who walks his dog in the park daily at that time, added
"He would walk early in the morning - around 6:30 am or 7am. He said he always had trouble sleeping. That's why he'd come out so early in the morning. He said it was a great thing, being a dad. He'd say, 'I'm very tired', and he looked it. He didn't seem to be such a good chess player, but I'm not sure. [Mr Rivera sometimes saw the actor playing chess at the public tables]"
In a recent interview Ledger open up about how work-related stress gave him insomnia. During the shooting of his last completed film, The Dark Knight, Ledger told The New York Times in November that he often took the prescribed sleeping aid, Ambien, in an attempt to coax himself into a slumber. "Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night. I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted and my mind was still going." Ledger continued to say that taking one pill had no effect on him. He'd have to take second to fall asleep, only to awake an hour later with his "mind still racing."

Charlize Theron Sizzles @ Sundance Film Festival

splashnews_spl15529_003.jpg
The Sundance Film Festival in Utah may be ending this Sunday, but that's not stopping the celebs, who are turning up in their droves. So who have we spotted over the last 24 hours, apart from the already mentioned Mischa Barton and Adrian Grenier. Well, best snap of the day goes to Charlize Theron, who sizzled her way through the crowds of waiting fans. Her cute hat perched perfectly on her chic bob, as she warmly sighned autographs in a stunning pair of black high heeled boots. (Did she not see the wheather forecast?). Also spotted giving Splash News a wave: The Edge and Bono of the band U2, poser Paris Hilton, hunky Josh Hartnett and actor Denis Hopper. spl_lily_allen_008.jpg
Lily Allen was spotted looking gorgeous as she stepped out on her first night out since the loss of her baby. She had been recording her new TV show earlier and went to the Groucho club, but only for 20 mins. Photographers wondered if the singer had plans to moves as she was snapped carrying a copy of Homes & Property.

Unlikely Heath Ledger Accidentally Overdosed

splashnews_spl15342_003.jpg
A leading forensics expert has spoke out, commenting that it was unlikely actor Heath Ledge could have accidentally overdosed on the prescription pills found in his New York apartment. The Brokeback Mountain star reportedly had six types of drugs prescribed in his name, mainly generic versions of the anti-anxiety medications Xanax and Valium, when he died on Tuesday afternoon. Also Two types of sleeping aids, Donormyl and Zopiclone, were found next to Ledger. At least some of the pills apparently had been purchased overseas, but Dr Michael Baden said: "The pills generally have a large safety margin. You just don't take one extra pill and die." Baden told the New York Post that fatal overdoses of the pills can occur, but only if a person takes 10-20 or even more at one time. "We don't see very many deaths from the common sleeping pills," said Baden, chief forensic pathologist for the New York State Police, and the former chief medical examiner of New York City. If someone is prescribed pills under a wide variety of brand names - as Ledger was - for a single purpose such as sleep, it could indicate that person was abusing the drugs. Prescription pills are "probably abused more than illegal drugs," Baden added and toxicology tests conducted on Ledger's hair "will tell whether he was a drug abuser." Meanwhile, Dr Maria Gomez of Montefiore Medical Center, told the paper that both Valium and Xanax can when overused or mixed with alcohol, slow breathing so much that it stops altogether. It will take about 10 days to determine the cause of death, a spokeswoman for New York's medical examiner said. "We have to do additional testing which will include toxicology and tissue testing," the spokeswoman said.

Adrian Makes The Most Of The Snow

splashnews_spl15498_001.jpg
A chirpy looking Adrian Grenier was spotted leaving the slopes of Park City, Utah, with a male and female friend yesterday. The actor looked cosy and well padded as he wrapped up warm in a stripy scarf and orange ski jacket. It was good to see someone making use of the wheather! Photographers also reported that the actor was more than happy to talk to his waiting fans when he returned. Good lad.
