NEW ORLEANS -- Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt used their star power today in New Orleans.
They were there to help The Children's Health Fund focus attention on the more than 46-thousand children still displaced two and a-half years after hurricanes Katrina and Rita destroyed their homes.
Jolie says her work as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees prompted her to get involved with the effort in New Orleans.
The Children's Health Fund issued a report earlier this month that said 46- to 64-thousand children affected by the hurricanes are still at risk for a host of medical, mental health and educational problems complicated by a lack of support services.
Jolie says that in her travels she has seen many children who feel defeated.
The difference in New Orleans, she says, is that the children "are feisty, fun and full of pride.''
Jolie says "it's that kind of spirit that will help everyone get through this.''
Pitt and Jolie have made New Orleans their home since the hurricanes and have been working to help the area recover.

Mike - My thoughts exactly! There are so many people who do so much good, without all the press. You can't say Brangelina don't ask for it -- they seek it and expose those poor kids to their need for the limelight.

I'll save my respect for the many others who make a difference without needing to be "on" all the time, and for those who LIVE the values, not just hype them.

Take a few minutes do a research (go to UNHCR page for instance) and see what Angie has done -- the time and money she gave -- in this 7 years that works as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has dedicated herself to help others.

Angelina is a UN ambassador so one of her roles is to promote and bring awareness to (make the public aware of) social and economic issues. So she has to be in the public eye.
We see pictures of Jen and Violet more than the Jolie-Pitts..almost every single week..twice a week sometimes..but no one ever says anything remotely negative about that. Never anything about Jen posing for photo-ops, PR, whoring out her child..
Jolie-Pitts are held to absurd standards. Everything they do is nitpicked and criticized.

Fantastic couple.Brad has really grown into someone of substance instead of looking bored to death with Jen the bland insipid one.

I'm getting really tired of the haters saying Angie went after Brad, when all I see is that Brad went after Angie. He fell hard for her, he broke up with his wife and then chase her. That man had to do a whole lot a talking and loving to get her...he said many times he saw mother of his children in Angie.

Just last week on Charlie Rose show he that he saw a family with Angie and wanted children with her.

Now that doesn't sound like a man who doesn't know his own mind.
