The angry supermodel has conservationists in an uproar over her plans with former beau Flavio Briatore to open a five-star casino/hotel with 40 apartments in the Indian Ocean resort town of Malindi - which is also a coastal sanctuary for rare turtles. "This would have a very negative effect on turtle nesting," Athman Seif, director of the Malindi Marine Association, told the Times of London. "The lights would confuse the turtles and send them heading off in the wrong direction."

Is Britney Spears going to appear on the Emmy's this weekend? Us Weekly seems to think so and their source says she could be gearing up to give an apology for her failed VMA comeback performance.

Yes, according to an Emmy Awards show source, who tells Usmagazine.com that Fox network brass were "in negotiations" with Brit's camp as of Thursday afternoon to get her on this Sunday night's annual telecast. The source adds that while her appearance has not yet been confirmed, "the idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs. She's weighing the offer."

I really can't decided if this is a good idea or not. On one hand it would be great to see her take some responsibility for her actions and behavior over the last few years and on the other, getting up on stage and saying "I'm sorry y'all" sounds really forced, contrived and really pointless. What's she going to get up their and apologize for? Not taking the opportunity seriously? Flashing her baby maker to everyone? Wearing awful wigs? Everybody's favorite "Not Guilty" double murderer Orenthal "OJ" Simpson has been named as a suspect in the break-in of a Las Vegas casino hotel room involving the theft of some sports memorabilia.

The break-in was reported at the Palace Station casino late last night, police spokesman Jose Montoya said. He said investigators determined the break-in involved sports collectibles. "When they talked to him, Simpson made the comment that he believed the memorabilia was his," Montoya said. "We're getting conflicting stories from the two sides." Simpson was released after he and several associates were questioned, but he is considered a suspect in the case, Montoya said. He is believed to be in Las Vegas.

Alfred Beardsley, the memorabilia dealer who reported the theft has in his collection several pieces of Simpson memorabilia, mainly the suit OJ was wearing when he was found not guilty of the murder of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and waiter/friend Ron Goldman. I bet The Juice was just checking the room to see if the "real killers" were staying there or he was researching the sequel to "If I Did It." Update: OJ has admitted to taking the memorabilia but says it wasn't a break in and that auction house owner Tom Riccio gave him access to the room.

"Everybody knows this is stolen stuff," Simpson said. "Not only wasn't there a break-in, but Riccio came to the lobby and escorted us up to the room. In any event, it's stolen stuff that's mine. Nobody was roughed up."

OJ goes on to claim it was part of a "sting operation" to get his crap back (only so Fred Goldman can take it from him). Hey OJ, aren't sting operations conducted by the police and not by suspected murders and Heisman winning hall of fame running backs?
