Actually I think it's legitimate to show the video. We see pics of people dying on the news all the time. You should put up a warning telling people that they might find it upsetting, though.

What I find really offensive is the fact that, a few posts below, you've chosen to illustrate the story on Smith's death with a picture of her passed out drunk/high, implying that it depicts her fatal overdose. This is seriously misleading and in the worst possible taste.

You people are constantly snarking celebs for their bad taste in clothes, drugs, publicity stunts, etc. Do you really think it's in good taste to imply that a photo of Smith drunk is a photo of her dead?

Have some integrity in your profession, if nothing else. Put a caption on that picture or, preferably, change it.

I think that the main reason that you guys are getting so much heat about this is that you bought it for $500,000. That's what makes it tasteless. Yes, we see video of people on stretcher and such on the news all the time, but no one is making a profit off their pain. Why is it that in the U.S. you can show this garbage, but you can't show images of the bodies of the dead coming back from Iraq? Those are the videos and picture that need to be shown, not picture of a train wreck of a woman who surrounded herself with dispicable people and whored herself out to anyone who would pay.

I think you guys have a big problem. We are not going to clean your souls. It is a video, but you are using it to make business not just for information purpose. So, just show the video, people who want will watch it, but don´t aks for understanding.

Journalists arenn't suposed to show medical images of anyone without their consent (or the family, in this case). The journalists or anyone. Just because it's done everyday it doesn't make it legitimate.

And I really don't know if you can qualify the video as "news". Not showing the video woudn't remove any essential information.
