"Luisel, 20, had been told she could 'make it big' if she lost a 'significant' amount of weight and was under much pressure and stress". (Daily Mail)Please leave your views on this tragic story and international debate. What are your thoughts when you see the catwalks tiny frames mirrored in celebrity culture? In reference to such woman as Nicole Richie and Kate Bosworth.

Kate's dress is just hanging on her and she allready looks dead. This is so sad!!!!
I think that everyone wants to be skinny and few people are skinny. If you are fat, you should not be unhealthy fat (more than 30-40 pounds over weight) and if you are skinny you should not be repulsive like that Olsen twin/ Nicole Richie/ kate Bosworth. I loved Bosworth in the movie Wonderland, and now I can't stant to watch her in anything.
As a Brit living in Los Angeles I was surprised when I went back to England last year no one had heard of a size zero. Now its all the "rag" - I think its really sad that its spread over there. People should be healthy.
It is sad. I used to be rail thin but not anymore and I'm at my ideal weight and people say to me I look better now than I did when I was thin. I should thank my hormones I guess LOL. I put a lot of blame on the media, Hollywood, and the modeling industry for drilling into people's mind that looking like a skeleton is beautiful. Its terrible, just plain terrible.
i cannot speak for kate, since i don't follow her, but nicole richie has actually taken significant steps to get her weight up. if you compare old pictures of her to ones within the last few months, you can tell the considerable difference in her weight. she didn't mean to get that thin and she KNEW she was too thin. she doesn't want to be a thinspiration to anyone and she has stated that time and time again.
to be sick thin is not attractive. The model industry should use more curvy people.
Ok this is not up for debate. Fat people are gross.
Thin IS healthy if it's how you're born! It's that unattainable look that makes them models. So people who aren't born like that hurt themselves to try to attain said unattainable physiques. That's their issue. It's no different than anyone taking steroids to gain the muscles some people are born with so that they can be pro athletes.
What they need to do is monitor what models eat. Test their blood sugar the same way you test athletes for roids. After all it's not illegal to use roids because it's unfair, it's in the individuals interest because they've proven to be deadly.
It's not a matter of changing the industry, just paying more attention to the people working in it.
If the flaky airheads in fashion actually cared they'd put in some effort to curb the drug use and starvation. But then they'd lose money and probably have to sober up themselves.
btw: nice choices in the pics. lol A lot of models who are size 0 look amazing. But you'll never see their pictures beside a tabloid. :S
I know Omaira (The top model in the top left) personally. She has always been skinny. And I know her since her time in high school. It's sad though, when girls who are not naturally skinny die trying to be a weight they are not.
I think it's hypocritical on your part to post this story and then a stroy above it about how "thick" Mariah Carey is, and how she needs her assistants to rip the tags off her jeans so she doesn't see the sizes. Puh-leaze. Her damn stomach is hanging out, and it's not flopping over. She's not fat. But go ahead and say that and add to the pressure you boo-hoo over for these young girls who aspire to be a size sero. Why don't you just hollar out "Starve FATTIES."
It is a shame. The media needs to quit calling people fat when they aren't and maybe there could be a small change. As long as you are not obese and puuting your health in danger you should be able to walk in public without someone posting pictures of you and calling you FAT. That is why there so many people with self esteem problems and eating disorders.
I agree with #9 and 12. They did the same thing to Tyra Banks because she has gained weight. I think she still looks gorgeous. Her reply to them: Kiss my fat ass! You go girl!
underweight thin is not healthy period.. even i f u were born underweight. theres a BMI( Body mass index that tells u the healthy weight for your age height and weight. Seriously some one needs to slap some sense into kate boworth she is anorexic no such thing as being that skinny seriously u have to be in some kind of denial not to notice that! look at her! i am a fan of her but gee how skinnier can she get? i saw her in a pic bent over & i saw a deep hollow cave where her boobs are supposed to be they zoomed in on it & it was terrifying. she needs help.
Kate Bosworth looks horrible and the texture of her hair is so brittle, how sad.She used to look so good before she
decided to kill herself, ever so slowly.
You people are a bunch of hypocrites!!!
Talking about the anorexia of these models and then calling Mariah "thick"
when she probably is of average size and
looks fine!!!
No wonder there is a problem with body images for young girls
around the world and in the U.S.
