Actor Ryan O'Neal, 65, was arrested in the early hours Saturday for assault with a deadly weapon following a fight with his son Griffin, 42. According to O'Neal, he was returning home from attending Farrah Fawcett's 60th birthday bash at about 12:30 AM when he was grazed by a fireplace poker swung by Griffin which then hit his 22-year-old girlfriend in the head.

"I ducked, he hit his own girlfriend in the head," O'Neal told the Los Angeles Times. "She's seven months pregnant. I got a little nervous at that point and fled to my room... and I got my gun.'' Griffin "started to come up the stairs again with the poker in his hand. So I just fired it into the banister, and that scared him and he fled," explained O'Neal, who says he acted in self-defense.
