Anna Nicole Smith has died after collapsing at a Florida hotel according to her attorney Ron Rail.
The former Playboy model was "not breathing and unresponsive" when paramedics arrived at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, where she was staying with her attorney boyfriend Howard K. Stern.
Paramedics were seen pumping her chest and desperately trying to revive her as she was rushed on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
"It didn't look at all good for her. She seemed totally lifeless," said a witness, who saw him dash into Smith's hotel suite minutes after she collapsed.
"Her bodyguard flew past me like a bat out of hell.
"Howard Stern was running about like crazy. He was in a total panic. It looked like he didn't know what the hell to do. He was in total panic."
A nurse was called to 39-year-old Smith's hotel room on Wednesday afternoon when she complained on feeling unwell.
She arrived at the hotel the previous evening on a private jet from her now home in the Bahamas.
She told hotel staff she was feeling "great" and wanted to know if there were any events going on that she could attend.
But people who witnessed her arrival said she was looking 'tired and strained.'
Smith is embroiled in a number of bitter court battles and is due to give evidence at an inquest into her 20-year-od son's mysterious death from a drugs overdose. Daniel died three days after she gave birth to the daughter she has always longed for. Daniel Smith had been with his mother and visited his baby sister just hours before his death in the Bahamas. This tragic turn of events has come four months after Nicole Smith won the latest round of her long-running court battle that could eventually see her become richer than the Queen.
The blonde star has been given the right to fight for half of her late oil baron husband's GBP 800million fortune in the US Supreme Court.
If she wins, her fortune will be GBP 100m more than the Queen's GBP 300m. The US Supreme Court said the former Playboy Playmate of the Year should have a fresh chance to pursue her claim in federal court.
She was 26 when she married 89-year-old wheelchair-bound oil tycoon J Howard Marshall II in 1994. When they met two years earlier, she was working as a topless dancer in a club in Houston, Texas. Marshall's death 14 months later triggered a legal battle between Nicole Smith and Marshall's son Pierce, who died unexpectedly earlier this year, aged 68. She claimed her husband promised half of his estate, but Pierce Marshall said his father only wanted her to have the GBP 3m-worth of gifts she received in 1994.
Legal experts say Nicole Smith, who has not received any money from her late husband's estate since his death in 1995, was now looking the likely winner of the bitter battle over her late husband's fortune.
In a string of court battles, she has accused Pierce of killing his father and trying to kill her. He alleges she was a gold digger who only married

Though I don’t know what the cause of death for Anna Nicole Smith is yet, whether she was killed, overdosed, or simply died of a broken heart, I just think her whole story is heartbreaking. It’s so easy for others to criticize someone else such as the public & media did to her. Whether she had an addiction for alcohol, drugs or just had a depression problem, she’s not the first and won’t be the last. People call her dumb & talent-less but she made money modeling, acting so obviously someone must not have felt the same way because she got paid for what she did. For a so-called “dumb†person, she sure seemed to know EXACTLY what she was doing. In my opinion Anna Nicole Smith appeared to be quite intelligent and the “dumb blonde†image that she portrayed to the public was simply just that, an image! I’ve seen her in interviews and you can tell that she was not stupid at all. She was a beautiful person who deserved to be treated with respect but unfortunately when you are famous, that very rarely ever happens. As far as her marrying Howard Marshall, if you do your research, you’ll find out that he was the one who perused her, asked her to marry him numerous times till she finally agreed. I do believe that they loved each other, no matter if her love was more of a “father figure†type of love or not, she still loved him. As for those of you who make comments about the number of men she’s been with, try and remember she came from obviously a very disturbing home life, and the fact that her mother was married 5 times, well I’m just thinking she wasn’t the best example for Anna. Some things in life are worse than death. Anna Nicole was a very beautiful woman but I believe she was consumed in grief. It's very sad that no one was able to help her. Friends are very important to help us get through the sad things in life that we will all face. Everyone needs to remember to always be there for a friend when they're in trouble. Don't close your eyes and pretend that things are O.K. when they're not. I hope that in death Anna Nicole will finally know peace.
