I'm not exactly in the 'Ugly Betty' target demographic; I'm male, straight, listen to really bad death metal, and spend most of my free time in the corner of several local dive bars but for some reason I really enjoy the show. For some reason I am totally captivated by America Ferrara, she's adorable. Oh and show has an amazingly hot Salma Hayek who gets better looking every year. Maybe that's why I am watching. I think the lure of Ugly Betty is the fact that it is devoid of the usual fair on TV i.e. no blood, no violence, no obvious political agenda and most of all it's isn't paced like a music video with constant angle changes or shakey camera work. It has a slow, almost hypnotic pace that alows the viewer to absord what their seeing and relax for an hour.
