Is Scientology behind this British invasion?

After looking over the amount of money Beckham is being paid, roughly $250 million for 5 years, I got to thinking, how could a team, that is part of a league that draws less television money than In-Door Lacrosse and is often treated like ball room dancing by Americans afford such a high salary? And then it dawned on me, Scientology! Beckham's wife Victoria is friends with Katie Holmes, has dabbled with some L. Ron Hubbard readings from the looks of these picture, has an interest in pursuing an acting career and Tom Cruise and the kids love soccer. It makes perfect sense for them to front all this cash to make Beckham the premiere athlete in America. So what do you think? Scientology behind this one?

ahhh, i thought that was an olsen twin!
OMG you're right...it all makes sense now. Either that or Beckham really wants to be on a team called "Galaxy."
Personally, I think this is a brilliant move by MLS.Later,Tom
Oh. My. God.This theory is genius.I'm going to be ill.I have to live in this god-forsaken town...Oy.http://www.geocities.com/lauren_94904/save_lolo.html
No. It's greed and pride. That's what's behind the metrosexual's decision to "play" in America. Otis Rail
Whoever is paying him this insane amount of money is going to be very disappointed after people eventually lose interest in him and the sport. He might bring a couple of new fans to the sport, but the majority of Americans could care less about soccer. And not even David Beckham can change that.
While I'm normally down for a spot of $cientology conspiracy theory, I don't believe the "church" is behind this one. He doesn't get the money up front, and the Galaxy have just tripled the prices of season tickets, which are selling out rapidly. They'll sell more tickets, sell more merch and get more ad money. I think that's what's behind all this.
Beckham is a marketing tool. Not necessary an athlete. Football, Baseball and Basketball - those are American sports. Is US Soccer even televised? I was not even aware there were teams past the age of 12.
