After looking over the amount of money Beckham is being paid, roughly $250 million for 5 years, I got to thinking, how could a team, that is part of a league that draws less television money than In-Door Lacrosse and is often treated like ball room dancing by Americans afford such a high salary? And then it dawned on me, Scientology! Beckham's wife Victoria is friends with Katie Holmes, has dabbled with some L. Ron Hubbard readings from the looks of these picture, has an interest in pursuing an acting career and Tom Cruise and the kids love soccer. It makes perfect sense for them to front all this cash to make Beckham the premiere athlete in America. So what do you think? Scientology behind this one?

Why does Claire Danes always look like a miserable cow? Would it hurt her to smile every once and a while? David Beckham, one of the most popular and most notable soccer players in the world, has agreed to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS after his contract ends with Real Madrid this year. The deal is reportedly a five-year contract worth more than $258 million making him the highest paid athlete in the US. Speculation was that Beckham was going to renew his contract with Real Madrid or sign with one of the major English Premiere League teams but his wife, Victoria Beckham, was spotted house hunting in Los Angeles last month and David has several business interests in LA as well as his new Soccer Academy. This is absolutely enormous for the MLS and US soccer in general but will we take notice? Probably not.
