The Big Brother racism argument has hit a climax today, as the Carphone Warehouse has suspended its sponsorship deal with the show. Prompted by the predictable intervention from media regulator Ofcom. Ofcom were forced to investigate after channel 4 received 30,000 complaints of racism and bullying towards contestant Shilpa. The Bollywood star has millions of fans across India. In her home town of Mumbai, she lives in luxury with her own servants.

"At home she is waited upon. She has her own entourage, everything is done for her, " her mother Sunanda Shetty said. "She did not do it (Big Brother) for the money - she has two films coming out.
