Dude, even if Bush were a homosexual, that would not be the problem here. The problem is that he is an idiotic man-child with more money than brains, more people to squeeze favors out of than God, and that he should not be running a Kwickie Mart, much less an entire country.

It's funny the people who get lathered up about criticizing the President for yet another stupid photo op. Kudos to martin springfield, who put it well: Clinton took press pummeling (deserved, but overwrought), impeachment proceedings(undeserved and absolutely partisan), and merciless attacks (from self-righteous creeps who, it was learned, often had done the same or worse in their lifetimes) over a consensual sexual affair with a tart. Bush is, as Helen Thomas, she of decades of reporting in the White House Press Corps, the worst president in her lifetime. Why? Because he led us into war, lied to us to do that, has lied ever since, and shows no sign of connecting the American lives lost in that war with his/Cheney's insane policies. At least the military are getting wise to this; now if we can only reach the so-called "heartland," where truth goes into some sinkhole that's taken the place of open debate and truth-seeking.

This is so sad. You are all so full of irrational hate and contempt. It is not healthy. It changes nothing. President Bush will remain President for another two years, and if somthing should happen to him, Cheney would assume office. Behaving like this drives moderate Republicans away from bipartisanship and right into the emabrace of the Far-right. If we can this country back, we need to be constructive and civilized, and not sound like the loons the Right constantly trys to portray us as.

In the interview with Matt Lauer, President Bush spoke emphatically about how important it was to interrogate those captured on the field of battle so we could take appropriate, immediate action with the information obtained by "legal methods" but this was in answer to Matt's questions regarding waterboarding which the president avoided by speaking of the importance of "battlefield" interrogations.Too bad the president was never a combat veteran. He would have known better. When questioned about what information WE could give to our captors, WE were trained to provide only our name, rank and serial number. I always added, "and the location of my unit". This was usually met with alarm from my military instructors until I told them that by the time my unit's location information was provided to anyone who could do anything about it, my unit would have moved, especially since they knew I was captured. But this has never pentrated the president's thought process because he was only in the NG and not there long enough to get the imprint of the realities of combat. Of course, he was training in aircraft that were obsolete and he therefore would never have been sent to Vietnam anyway. Pretty smart, eh?Bests,John McCarthy
