Hockey player Sean Avery has been suspended from the NHL after making "inappropriate public comments, not pertaining to the game." In an interview yesterday, the Dallas Star's left-winger threw a thinly veiled verbal jab at Calgary Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf , who is dating Avery's ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert.

Avery's inflammatory comments came following a morning skate in Calgary, where the Stars play the Flames tonight.

Avery approached a group of reporters, asked if a camera was present, then said he wanted to say one thing: "I'm really happy to be back in Calgary; I love Canada," he said. "I just wanted to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. But, enjoy the game tonight."

I have to admit, as d-baggy as that statement is, I laughed. And not like a little chuckle but a wide mouthed guffaw followed by knee slap.

I guess that means that LA Kings center Jarrett Stoll is enjoying his "sloppy seconds" too.

Amy Winehouse's train wreck husband Blake Fielder-Civil is being sent back to jail after failing a drug test while in rehab.

The junkie, 26, dashed to his wife's hospital bedside last night from rehab after being told the news. He could now be in jail until early 2010 after breaking the early release terms of his 27-month sentence.

A source said: "Blake did a runner. He turned up in hospital and hell broke loose -- everyone was totally shocked. He was asking Amy to forgive him. As he was going back inside anyway he felt he didn't have much to lose."

Fielder-Civil, who had been at Live Works rehab in Woking, Surrey, planned to hand himself in to cops after an evening with her.

Blake recently apologized for introducing Amy to the drug scenes but with the recent rumors of divorce and now Blake's impending incarceration, it looks like we've seen the last of this ridiculous romance.
